DJI Mavic 2 Air Wishlist and Leaks: Guide for Beginners

Rumors are going on that DJI is working on a Mavic 2 Air that is expected to be released by end of 2019 or early 2020. For your information, DJI hasn’t launched a major consumer drone this year and the consumers who have known DJI as the world-class leading drone industry is wondering when they will roll out a new quadcopter. DJI already released three new products this year, expanding its focus beyond the drones market such as the Robomaster S1 Tank, Osmo Action and more recently, Ronin SC Gimbal Stabilizer.

DJI announced a few months ago that they will be installing AirSense technology on their new drones. However, AirSense technology will be required in 2020. This means it is likely that they won’t release a new drone this year because of the AirSense requirement. But, there is a small possibility that they are working on a new drone product that is smaller compared to their juggernaut quadcopters like Mavic Pro and Phantom 4.

Could it be that DJI is working on a new DJI Mavic 2 Air drone which probably will be smaller, compact and even more portable? While these merely are all rumors and speculations. I have assembled a wishlist of what I would love to see on the new DJI Mavic 2 Air drone. When the time comes and DJI released the DJI Mavic 2 Air drone. I will be compared to what the rumors got right and what is wrong. Without further ado, these are my wishlist that I want to see on the next generation of Mavic Air series.

Wishlist for DJI Mavic 2 Air Drone:

Specifically with connectivity, longer flight time, bigger remote control distance and more. • Bigger remote control distance up to 4 miles.
• Dedicated transmission system like the Mavic Pro has.
• Better connectivity for smoother flight experience.
• 5G transmission system for both drones and transmitter.
• Shorter start-up time.
• More intelligent flight modes.
• ActiveTrack 3.0
• FlightAutonomoy 3.0
• Better camera quality, 16MP or 20MP with 1-inch CMOS sensor.
• 4K UHD at 60 FPS.
• More video options.
• Smart controller with built-in screen HUD so you don’t need to use your smartphone or tablet.
• 360-degree obstacle avoidance sensors that act as a radar.

Recent Leaks about DJI Mavic 2 Drone:

There has been speculation going on about DJI working on a new prototype that was shown at the end of the DJI AirSense trailer that looks like to be a DJI Mavic 2 Air drone. Some users believe it could be the prototype that appears to be designed differently. Which led them to think that it could be either the DJI Spark 2 drone that they are likely to be working on. Or, it could be the new DJI Mavic 2 Air drone that they probably will release it by end of 2019 or early 2020.

However, while it is a little difficult to decipher from the trailer to determine if it is a new prototype or not. We only can hope that DJI will meet all or most of our wishlist. Especially that the new flying gadget should come with its dedicated transmission system and better camera quality. That being said, if the wishlist turns out to be true, the new Mavic Air drone will be a great hit among travelers and quickly catapult to become one of the best traveling drones.
