Another rising star is across the horizon. The AKASO A21 drone is a recently released quadcopter that comes with a built-in 720P camera and superior agility. It’s one of the AKASO, a well-known camera company, the latest move to carve a portion in the drones market. In our AKASO A21 review, we’ll talk about what is in the box, design quality, performance, and features. Whether the AKASO A21 drone is the best fit for you is ultimately your choice.
In The Box
Before we start talking about the AKASO A21 review, I want to share with you what is inside the box. As shown in the picture below, the package comes with a drone, a transmitter, a battery, a set of propellers, a USB charger, a screwdriver, and an instruction manual. The box itself is small enough to be carried around and do make a great travel case which I liked.
It’s important to note that the propeller guards are already built-in the drone. This means you don’t need to install the guards nor do you need to remove it at all. Because the drone has very high speed which makes it unnecessary to remote the guards since it won’t change the speed a bit. An extra set of propellers is nice in case the propellers bend or break. You can easily replace the broken pieces and get the drone back into the air quickly.

Design Quality
On the first impression, the AKASO A21 drone looks like HS150 Bolt Bee except without propeller guards. This little speedy bird comes in two popular colors: red and black that makes it an interesting style choice. It uses ABS plastic which is durable and flexible compared to most toy-grade drones that use cheap plastic. Because it’s very durable, it won’t break that easily which makes the AKASO A21 drone a good choice for beginners.
Plus, this little quadcopter comes with a built-in 720P HD camera located in the front. It’s accompanied by LED lights that provide a nice searchlight that lights up during night flight missions. Regarding the battery, it gives the drone approximately 6 minutes of flight time. It’s certainly not bad for a decent drone under $50. Moreover, the battery is modularized which helps deliver the power more efficiently for better performance.
Finally, I liked how the AKASO A21 drone comes with built-in propeller guards. It serves the role of the natural shock absorber by preventing the drone from hitting against the wall or objects. I think it’s a must-have design feature to have for beginners. As I mentioned previously that you don’t have to worry about its speed because the bird is already built to operate at a maximum flight speed of 31 miles per hour. So if you remove the guards, it won’t make a difference. It would make sense to just leave the guards on as it will provide protection anyway.

Performance
When it comes to performance, the AKASO A21 drone is an amazing choice for beginners and kids. While it’s small enough to fit in your palm of a hand, it has proven to be quite a potent force for both indoor and outdoor activity. Because of its high-speed capability, this little bird can soar around with relative ease and handle light to moderate wind.
Along with good performance, the drone is both responsive to the controls and flies around with grace. Its built-in camera enables streaming the video to your smartphone in real-time. Thus, making FPV mode possible for beginners and kids to pilot around. Not just only is it fun to fly in FPV mode, the AKASO A21 drone makes a great choice for entry-level aerial photographers who wants to learn how to take pictures and videos.
On the side note, this little jet blackbird comes with five-speed tiers. Most of the drones normally come with two or three-speed levels. But for a drone with five different speed modes, it makes the learning curve much smoother and easier for beginners to master their piloting skill.
